😮💨Predictions that Bitcoin (BTC) might drop below $20,000 over the weekend were unfounded as BTC traded just above $21,000, down 1% over the past 24 hours. Ether exchanged hands above $1,200 and had lost around 1% during the previous day. This comes as investors took solace from Sunday’s indications that the US economy was slowing down and that the Fed might supress its monetary hawkishness in the coming months.
💰Goldman Sachs looks to acquire $2 billion from investors to purchase risky assets from struggling crypto lender Celsius. The proposed transaction enables investors to purchase its assets at large discounts in the event that Celsius files for bankruptcy. Goldman Sachs has been assessing interest from Web3 crypto funds, funds that specialize in distressed assets and traditional financial institutions.
😡BlockFi, a cryptocurrency lending platform, announced hikes in deposit rates and reduced withdrawal fees for a variety of cryptocurrencies on Friday. Both new regulations go into force on July 1. Since the crypto meltdown, BlockFi has been forced to lay off one-fifth of its workforce and turn to Sam Bankman-FTX Fried’s for an urgent $250 million revolving credit facility.
